Living and Active –
His Word:
- Is discerning the thoughts and intentions of our hearts – Heb 4:12b.
- Lights the way for us – Psalm 119:105
- Endures forever – Isaiah 40:8
- Is the Light for all people – John 1:4
Many people say, “I just can’t understand the Bible. It’s too complicated. So, I just listen to what the preacher says.” My friend, the Bible is God’s Truth provided to you and me, carefully handed down through generations… so that we might know the Truth that sets us Free! (John 8:32)
Do you need someone to chew your food, like a mother bird? Maybe so as an infant, but as adults, most of us are capable of feeding ourselves. God’s Word is our food, our daily bread, wisdom for life, hope, and the Truth.
So please, if you haven’t already, get a Bible in a straightforward translation, ESV or NLT, for example. These are designed for clarity. Commit to reading a little each day and return to this commitment if you’ve stopped. We all need to be fed daily! Start in the book of John in the New Testament; like all of His Word, it is rich in Eternal, Living, and Active Truth!
Pray and ask God to help you understand His Word. It’s His idea! It’s His purpose and plan for you and the purpose of His Word so that He can speak deeply, clearly, directly, and powerfully to you! He wants us to understand His Word!
Father, draw us near to You through Your Word: your living, eternal Word of Truth.
