My Father

Today’s Encouragement is, “Then he pointed to his disciples and said, ‘Look, these are my mother and brothers.  Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!’” Matthew 12:49-50 NLT

My Father –

Our earthly family, as much as we may love them and they love us, is made up of flawed, sinful people, just like you and me.  They may be biological or adoptive, by their choice or yours.  We often cling to this word ‘family’ as if it is life itself…  it is NOT!

Jesus is Life.  He clearly states that anyone who believes in Him (this is God’s will) is His Family! Jesus was not excluding his biological family; he took wonderful care of his mother, even as He was dying!  Yet, he included us as his brothers and sisters! We say it often, ‘brother or sister in Christ.’  We are His Family!

Our earthly family relationships can be wonderful, toxic, or anywhere in between. Thank Him if this relationship is wonderful, healthy, and constructive in your relationship with God! You are very blessed.  However, if the relationship you have with ‘family’ (whatever you consider that to be) is toxic, it is negatively affecting your life, your relationship with God, or your child’s life…  Then – Let Go! Become the adult you are! Become free of the sins of your family situation! Say Goodbye!

Counselors may be helpful; prayer is always the answer.  But the spiritual principle -is Truth!  God is our Perfect Father. Jesus is our Perfect Brother (and Savior). God lives within us through His Holy Spirit, and He is all we need!

Help us, Lord, to recognize You alone as our Father and ourselves as Your children, brothers and sisters with Jesus.

Good Good Father
