Today’s Encouragement is, “So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.” 2 Peter 1:10 NLT
Do These Things –
In the preceding verses (5-7), he expounds:
Add “these things” to your faith:
moral excellence,
knowledge,
self-control,
patient endurance,
godliness,
brotherly affection, and
love for everyone.
As we “do these things,” as we “work hard” to incorporate these attributes into our lives, we are promised 1) that we will never fall away and 2) that we will prove that we are God’s called and chosen people.
Remember, we do nothing perfectly, yet what we do – matters. The words we speak, actions we take, and especially our thoughts and intentions… are the evidence of our faith, or lack of faith.
Change is a process of knowledge, decision, practice (often with failure and recommitment), and resulting growth.
We are allowed the free will to choose the direction of our lives. Growing in Faith is the highest good! These character attributes are the essential components of spiritual growth. We often become overwhelmed at the thought of spiritual growth, not knowing where to start, uncertain of the journey, and filled with questions. But God helps us! He desires us to grow in relationship and character!
So, what will you choose?
Father God, we can do nothing without you, but we can do all things through Christ. Please help us grow our relationship with you, developing these character attributes. Show us the way; we long to grow closer to You. Thank You that You will help us! We pray in Jesus’ Name.
