The Infinite Value

Today’s Encouragement is “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.” Philippians 3:8 NLT

The infinite value – 

This infinite value is knowing Christ. Everything else, Paul says, is worthless. 

What do we hold as valuable, my friends? Family, wealth, friendships, health, property, treasures – all the special things we accumulate in life. How valuable are these? You may think, “Wait, you can’t include things like family and health in this list!”

Paul means everything and calls it worthless compared to knowing Christ. Remember, Paul never met Jesus during his days on earth; he wasn’t one of the twelve disciples. So, when he speaks of knowing Jesus, he refers to the same type of relationship you and I can have with Him. It isn’t knowing about Jesus…Rather, it is knowing Him as you know your best friend, even more… as well as you know yourself!

Knowing Jesus, my friend… nothing else matters. No valuable possessions or even our most treasured relationships can compare to the relationship we can have with Him- knowing Him! And this is an infinite journey, process, and experience, because… He is Infinite! 

Father God, help us to know Christ, to enter and remain in a growing, personal, honest, and even infinite relationship with Jesus.
