Today’s Encouragement is, [Jesus said,] “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” Matthew 7:24 NLT
Solid Rock –
Years ago, a wise friend pointed out that although we went to different denominational churches, we had many essential beliefs in common. He described it this way. “Rick, there’s really only a few things worth falling on your sword for!”
As I recalled his words, I asked myself, what are the key principles that comprise the foundation, the solid rock, of our faith?
Here’s a start on that:
Jesus – He was and is the only begotten Son of God, born of a virgin, lived a pure life, died a sacrificial death, was raised to life, ascended, still lives today, and will return!
Salvation – we are saved by acceptance of Christ as our Savior, by grace alone.
Lordship – we surrender our will to Christ as our Lord. We surrender our whole lives and our possessions, demonstrated by tithes, offerings, and service.
Purpose – We were created to obey, worship, and love God, love others, and have a relationship with God, our Father, as His adopted children through prayer.
Father, help us be aware of and confident in these “solid rock” principles, these truths of our lives as Your children, as Christians.
