Today’s Encouragement is, “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.” Philippians 4:11 NLT
Whatever I Have –
Want to make yourself miserable? It’s easy. Just look around you; look at what someone else has. Their house, car, spouse, bank account, or prestigious job. It won’t take long… misery will soon come.
God has a better way for His people. Contentment.
We think we must be driven, work hard to achieve, get ahead, be a success, and take what we want by any means!
But – God’s wisdom teaches us instead to say, “Thank You, Lord, for providing all that I need! I am satisfied and content with what I have and grateful to You for what I have. I will not covet, lust, long for, or strive after those things I do not have.”
This contentment is easiest to understand regarding possessions or positions, and most biblical examples are so directed. But can we be spiritually content? At peace with God? Accepting the level of faith, knowledge, and wisdom that He has given us -as enough. Isn’t the grace of Jesus – enough?
God is the source of every good thing (James 1:17). He has already given us the free gift of Grace; how much more will He graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32)
Whatever We have… it is enough! And should it not be adequate for tomorrow, He will provide.
You ask How? Read on; he describes “how” in verse 13.
Thank You, Father, for already making us right with You by our faith in Jesus. You have provided everything we need! Help us be content with whatever we have, confident that You will provide whatever we need.
