Today’s Encouragement is, “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.” Hebrews 10:23 NLT
Hold Tightly –
We know that God holds us who believe in Jesus in His hand (Psalm 66:9). We also know that God allows us to believe or not believe. (John 3:16) And we who believe… must hold tightly to our hope! We do this by regularly, consistently feeding our faith.
In His Perfect Prayer, Jesus taught us to ask, “Give us our daily bread.” He spoke not only about the food our bodies need but also about the spiritual food our souls and spirits need. He said, “I am the Bread of Life.” (John 6:35)
We hold tightly to our faith by spiritually ‘feeding’ ourselves the spiritual food of God’s Word, absorbing the nutrition of the Bread of Life and Living Water (John 4:10); both are descriptions of Jesus.
My friend, it is up to us to believe, hope, and trust. We walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Those who say, “I’ll believe it when I see it,” have chosen not to have faith or hope.
If you’ve ever met someone who didn’t “hold tightly” to their hope, who suddenly or gradually chose to doubt, question, and release it, you have seen the depths of human despair. Hopelessness is genuinely heartbreaking.
Father God, we need Your strength to “hold tightly to our hope” and to continue faithfully believing Your promises. We choose to Hope in You.
