Today’s Encouragement is, “When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources, he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.” Ephesians 3:14-16 NLT
He Will Empower You –
Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian Church, in verses 14-21, is incredibly powerful, revealing, and encouraging for all believers of all time. In fact, all of God’s Word is like that – powerful, revealing, for all believers, for all time… it is unrestricted!
On his knees, he prays to the Father and Creator – of everything! And prays for them and us, all believers:
“That God” – He alone can do this.
“From His glorious, unlimited resources” – He controls everything.
“Will empower us” – God does this and implants power within us.
“With inner strength” – this power from God is the strength, courage, and wisdom we all need.
“Through His Spirit” – God’s Holy Spirit brings power into our lives, inner strength!
It is not our strength! We are sheep, remember? We are dust! (Psalm 103:14) Nothing good lives within us! (Romans 7:18) All of us are sinful. (Romans 3:23)
God alone can empower us! Paul prayed that He would! Guess what! He already has!
His Spirit lives within us – all who believe in Jesus- now – already. (1 Corinthians 12:13)
This Holy Spirit is the same now as then! Empowering us with inner strength!
Father God, we pray to accept this empowerment, this inner strength of Your Spirit, to lead, direct, and even control our lives. For we no longer live, but Christ lives within us! (Galatians 2:20)
