As You Have Promised

Today’s Encouragement is, “Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, ‘Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation’” Luke 2:28-30 NLT

As You Have Promised –

God had promised Simeon (v26) that he wouldn’t die before he saw the Messiah. So, eight days after his birth, on his dedication, the infant Jesus was brought to the temple, and the Holy Spirit brought Simeon (v27)!

Simeon ‘took the child in his arms and praised God…’  as if he said, “Now, Lord, I can die a happy, peaceful man because… just like you promised me… my eyes have seen Your salvation!”

Can you imagine… this aged gentleman who, for years, had held on to God’s promise, trusting, in faith, that God would allow him to see His salvation…

Now holds the completion of that promise!

Similarly, we also hold in our hearts today the completion of all God’s promises… Jesus.

Our Messiah, the Lord of Lords, King of Kings… the final Word!  We need nothing else!  Like Simeon, we are completed by His presence, and He is held in our hearts.

Father God, You are always faithful to Your promises; You are always faithful to us! Grant us this gift… that we will remain faithful to You all our days.  We ask in Jesus’ Name!

Faithful to the End
