To Be Content

Today’s Encouragement is, “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.” Philippians 4:11 NLT

To Be Content –

This is a truly remarkable statement.

I have learned…. It’s a process.

Contentment is a learned state of mind.  It has nothing to do with circumstances, possessions, relationships, health, or any other matter… it is all in your mind!

We all think, “If only I had…” “When I get…” “I’ll be happy when…” yet all these are based upon some external factor, desire, or need. And nothing attained externally will satisfy us internally!  Our physical needs do not complete our internal needs.

The idea of contentment is founded upon internal peace.  When our hearts, minds, and souls are at peace, contentment is the result.

In this chapter, Paul describes his challenging circumstances and then proclaims he is Content!  How?  Because of Christ, living within his heart.

The Love of God flowing into our hearts through Jesus brings us peace.  We are accepted, forgiven, cleansed, and loved.  We don’t really need anything else!

May I ask, what is it that you believe you need, just now, in order to be content? Whatever comes to mind will not cause you to be content, at peace, or happy.

We learn contentment from God by recognizing that He is truly all we need.

Father, we are needy people who always want more. We rarely stop to thank You for the many incredible blessings You have already given us. Help us be grateful for what we have and content with the many blessings You have already provided us!

Already All I Need
