Today’s Encouragement is, “And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises.” 2 Peter 1:4-5a NLT
Respond to God’s Promises –
As an analogy, we eat a variety of foods. Why? Because we need varying nutrition. Similarly, Faith in Jesus is certainly enough to save us! Yet, God has many more promises for us than this most excellent gift: Salvation! And we access His promises by supplementing our faith! Adding to, enhancing, strengthening, and supporting our Faith is essential to a growing relationship with God.
How? Today’s verse, “Make every effort to respond to God’s promises.”
First, we must know God’s promises, then we make every effort to – respond!
If someone offers you a gift, and you don’t accept it, it is useless to you. If you set it aside and never open it – it is useless. You have not responded.
We respond to God’s promises by first knowing them and then by accepting His “great and precious promises.”
An example: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 Do you choose to respond – to believe, accept, and personalize this promise? Only then does it become a reality.
Father, help us to respond to You in faith, trusting in You and every promise of Your Word.
