Today’s Encouragement is, “Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.” Psalm 146:3-5 NLT
Hope in the Lord –
Ever been disappointed by people? Parents, bosses, coworkers, partners, spouses, pastors, church friends, or our children… most everyone can sadly say yes to this question. Why? Because we are not meant to place our confidence and hope in people! “Their plans all die with them.”
We all have feet of clay; no matter how well-intentioned we are, we cannot provide the hope, strength, courage, and salvation we ourselves need. And we certainly cannot save ourselves; how, then, can we save others?
Movies and books are filled with hero stories… but these are only stories. Only “The Story” of Christ is Truth, and only He is worthy of our trust, hope, and confidence!
And as we choose to trust God and rely on Jesus the Lord, not on some other human being… we can be joyful because He is our Helper and our Hope. We can trust Him!
We need not distrust others, be suspicious, and isolate ourselves, but be wise; do not place your hope and confidence in other human beings.
Father God, help us choose the way of Joy, placing all our hope and confidence in You, the Salvation provided by Jesus, and Your good plans for us. Help us refuse to put our hope in anyone or anything else.
My Hope
