How Much More Glorious

Today’s Encouragement is, “If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God!” 2 Corinthians 3:9 NLT

How Much More Glorious –

What is he talking about, the old way and the new way?  It’s the old covenant, the Ten Commandments, “written in stone” (v7), given by God through Moses.  This is the old way. 

The “new way” to be righteous (right with God) is far better, even much more – Glorious!  Glorious?!?! (Majestic, Brilliant, Awesome, Splendorous… Just a few synonyms for Glorious!) 

And what is this Glorious new way?  It is not like the old, doing certain things and obeying specific laws, but believing in Jesus and what He has already accomplished for us.  By faith in Him, we are saved! (Ephesians 2:8)

This is the New Way to Righteousness!  And it is Glorious! 

The old way, obedience to every rule and law, and the religious structure of the Old Testament all depended on our human efforts to be good enough for God’s mercy and love.  Yet throughout the Old Testament record, people failed, time after time!  No one could ever measure up to the high standard of God’s law! So, the animal sacrifice for sin was provided.  Once we had followed the law regarding the sin sacrifice of a perfect male lamb, we became cleansed of all sin. This was all part of the old way- which was, in itself- glorious! 

But God made a new way. 

Jesus!  Faith in Him! Trusting in His perfect sacrifice! Once for all time, for all who believe in Him… how much more glorious!?!?!? 

Thank You, Lord, for Jesus!  He is the Glorious New Way!
