We Belong to the Lord

Today’s Encouragement is, “For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. [8] If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:7-8 NLT

We belong to the Lord –

We are His, His chosen, adopted, His brothers and sisters, His sheep, His children, and His possession. We belong to Him.  We are no longer our own; our lives, beings, wills, minds, and hearts belong to Him!

But we don’t “feel” like it.  And we don’t really want it!  We want complete control over our lives; self-directed, self-sufficient, self-controlled… until we don’t! Until trouble comes, illness, or anything occurs that we can’t “self-control,”… then we cry out, “Oh, God, why did You let this happen to me?”

Many of our troubles (but certainly not all) result from our self-ruled lives. Maybe we’re trying to “be good and live good lives” but still self-rule.

If (since) Jesus is our Lord and Lord of our lives, then we can choose to surrender to Him daily in every way, decision, thought, hope, and plan… fully surrendered to Him!

This is the Christ-led life. Jesus as the Lord of our lives!

My friend, we can choose how we live; God gave us Choice.

So, who is Lord of your life, direction, and purpose?

Father God, help us lay down our lives and surrender to Your Perfect Plan for us, trusting completely in You alone. Help us remember that Jesus is on the throne of our lives and not ourselves.

On the Throne
