Today’s Encouragement is, “LORD, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty. I don’t concern myself with matters too great or too awesome for me to grasp. Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself, like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk. Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.” Psalm 131:2 NLT
Calmed and Quieted –
David often spoke to his soul, “Bless the Lord, O my soul.” Psalm 103:1
And “Why are you cast down, O my soul?” Psalm 42:11 ESV
Here, he describes that he has calmed and quieted his soul… Like a mother peacefully holding her weaned, satisfied, contented child… this is how he describes his treatment of his soul, heart, and ‘self.’
Unfortunately, our emotions, moods, experiences, and circumstances often control us. This is how the world lives. People have no capacity to speak wisdom, peace, and calmness to their souls, hearts, and minds, so they live in a turmoil of emotion and stress at all times.
But we “are not of this world!” (John 15:19) We have been given a spirit “of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
So, by God’s Spirit at work within us, we can calm and quiet our souls, our minds, and our hearts. We can live contentedly and peacefully even as the world around us spins out of control.
Thank You, Father, for Your Spirit of Peace that lives within us. Help us to calm and quiet our souls while resting in Your protective embrace.
Still, My Soul, Be Still

Thank you! Amen and Amen!
