The Light of the World

Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.’ The Pharisees replied, ‘You are making those claims about yourself! Such testimony is not valid.’” John 8:12-13 NLT

The Light of the World – 

Jesus clearly told the world who He is!  He spoke repeatedly of His relationship with God and His kingdom, among other truths about Himself.  

Notice the response of ‘those without ears to hear’… they ignored His profound statement!  They focused instead on the fact that He was speaking this about Himself… ‘testifying on his own behalf,’ which by their Law meant there needed to be a second witness.  

Jesus proclaims Himself as the light of the world… and they critically evaluate His statement by their laws… 

My friends, we can take Jesus at His word!  We need no measure, outside evaluation, or logical confirmation of Who He Is!  He has told us!  We just need to ‘deal with it,’ accept it, and then respond to His truth… just as He spoke it… without man’s evaluation, logical examination, or critical dissection! 

He IS!  The Light! The Way! The Truth! The Life! The King of Kings! The Lord of Lords! The Son of God! 

Father, help us; we are fallible, weak, confused, sheep-like human beings… to accept as Truth… Your Word!
