Contentment

Today’s Encouragement is, “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.” Philippians 4:11 NLT

How to be content –

Notice that Paul writes, “I have learned…” Contentment isn’t a natural outlook, attitude, or the modern term ‘worldview’… instead, it is a learned trait, a skill, and a developed perspective of a healthy mind and spirit.

Contentment is a beautiful blessing! To be at peace with who you are, what you have, who you are around, with every circumstance about you… how wonderful would that be?

An essential step to Contentment is expressing gratitude for what we do have rather than constantly striving, fighting, or even praying for what we don’t have.

This type of Contentment isn’t giddy optimism, blinded to the needs around us or to our own need to change, adapt, and improve. It isn’t complacency, lazily refusing to better ourselves or our situation. This is Personal Peace: accepting everyone and everything as it is… recognizing that God is in complete control and provides for our every need.

Even in our most dire circumstances, in pain, sorrow, illness, loneliness… even then… We can be Content!

Read the gracious wisdom of Philippians 4:4-13 (especially 6-7), and you will see the process of – Learning How to be Content!

Thank You Father God, that You desire Your children to live in Peace, and to be Content with the blessings You have granted us, recognizing that You know exactly what we need, and that You are our Source!

It is well
