Today’s Encouragement is, “And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:9-10 NLT
Keep on –
His disciples asked him (v1) ‘Lord, teach us to pray.’ And he taught them the Lord’s Prayer… then immediately He relates a parable about being persistent, consistent, determined, dedicated… in asking, praying for what you need. And then in v9-10, “Keep On!”
It seems almost impudent, almost rude, nearly demanding, the way the parable reads… and yet He then clearly instructs us – ‘Keep on!’ Keep on Asking God for what you need!
Friends, Jesus is telling us that God responds – when we Keep On… Jesus told us to persist in prayer!
We too often give our prayers one shot and then move on in the next breath to another prayer need, then another. Now, of course, God does NOT get tired of hearing our prayers! He is not a man who has a short fuse or limited patience… He IS Love; our Loving, Kind, Patient, Perfect, Almighty Heavenly Father (there aren’t enough words to describe Him!)
So, we are wise to pray with persistence, consistency, diligence, intention, focus, and confidence… because Jesus told us to!
The ‘when’ is up to Him; it may be Moments, Days, Years, Decades, or a lifetime… but all time is the same to our God… so we trust Him. He knows the absolute best way and best time to answer!
Father, help us keep on praying!
