Today’s Encouragement is, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NLT
Fighting –
Encouraging? Well, in a respect, it is. We need to understand and remember… we Are Fighting! Our fight is against the unseen world, its evil beings, mighty powers, and evil spirits. No namby-pamby enemy here! But mighty, evil powers!
Throughout scripture, we are told of the evil one, satan, and his demons… these are just as real as this life, as real as heaven and its angels. And we are in a fight! This is a spiritual battle! And because of this, we’ve been given God’s armor and weapons.
There’s nothing more pathetic than someone who doesn’t recognize their enemy, denies the existence of this enemy, and refuses to acknowledge that a battle is raging around them. Yet, we often do! And our enemy is very pleased with this!
The following verses (10-18) describe our spiritual armor and the essential weapon for our lifelong battle. It’s part of this life. Deny it or accept it. We’re just reading and believing the Bible here, not imagining or dreaming. We are in a fight!
“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then, after the battle, you will still be standing firm.” Ephesians 6:13
Father God, help us listen to the Truth and Wisdom which You have provided us in Your Word. Help us be alert, aware, armed with Your spiritual armor, and assured of Your complete victory!
