Today’s Encouragement is, “But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.” Acts 12:5 NLT
Prayed Very Earnestly –
The church prayed… Very Earnestly…. For him.
This is an essential purpose of our church family—earnest prayer. It is one reason we need a church family and an example of how we are to operate. Many of us don’t have a church home or a group of brothers and sisters who believe in Jesus that we can depend on for prayer, but if we know just one other believer, we can still ask them to join us in prayer! And often, it is our moment of greatest honesty, admitting that we need God’s help with this situation!
Of course, as God’s deeply loved sons and daughters, we are always welcome to pray for our every need. He always hears us when we pray! It is our essential connection with our Father, our source of strength, hope, and power! We are to pray persistently, constantly, thankfully, and confidently.
And we can also call on other believers (the church) to join us in prayer!
In this passage, the church prayed “very earnestly” for Peter because he was in prison, about to stand trial, and probably going to be killed (James just was Acts 12:2) for preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. Do you think Peter was praying, too?
“Yet the Church Very Prayed Earnestly.“ (see Acts 12:6-12 for this Very Earnest Prayer’s miraculous results.)
Father, thank You that we can always come to You in prayer, that You hear us, and that we can ask others to join us in prayer, and we can pray for those who haven’t asked.
