Never Again Remember

Today’s Encouragement is, “But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the LORD…. “And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” Jeremiah 31:33a & 34b NLT

Never Again Remember –

It’s often taught as a simple summary of grace…. “When God forgives, He forgets.”

Is it true?  Does this belief impact your life, behavior, and self-perception?

Here are a few related verses:

“LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?” Psalms 130:3

“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” Psalms 103:12

“Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.” Acts 3:19

Pretty straightforward! God has no record of our wrongs, offenses, sins, mistakes, or failures!

Why? Because Jesus died so that we could be forgiven. And God honors, perfectly and eternally, the sacrificial death of Jesus, for all who believe in Him….  No exceptions exist for ‘big sins’ or ‘big sinners!’

We can accept this Grace and forgiveness… and live in freedom and Grace…

or we can hold on to our sin, shame, and guilt as if it somehow makes us “better Christians.”  But holding on to our sin that God has already forgiven and forgotten – is denying what Jesus has done for us!

Now, if God has forgiven and forgotten, erased, removed, and Jesus has paid for, all our sin… why would we choose to remember it, hold on to it?

Father, thank You that we can live in the freedom Jesus has provided for us; forgiven and free, cleansed of all our wrongs, past, present, and future!

Cleansed
