Overwhelmed

Today’s Encouragement is, “Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all.” Psalm 65:3 NLT

Overwhelmed –

Ever been overwhelmed by your sins?  “What was I thinking?” “How did I let myself do that?” “I just can’t break this habit, this addiction!”

My friend, it is good to be overwhelmed by our sin! Because “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23), and only a sinner needs a Savior!  Now, we can resist sin, fight it, refuse it, and battle with it, but on our own, we are powerless!  Jesus said, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

This realization often tempts us to despair, frustration, and resignation, but we need not remain there!  Because God’s response to our overwhelmed situation is different from ours.  He forgives (today’s verse)!  We condemn and beat ourselves up… but God forgives! 

This recognition of our sinfulness, followed by our acknowledgment of our need for His help, opens the door to our acceptance of the only Savior, Jesus. We are no longer slaves to sin but forgiven, set free, and washed clean… eternally. He even forgets! And in this process, we find ourselves transformed!

We are no longer overwhelmed by our sins; instead, we are overwhelmed by Him, forever grateful and free!

How can we thank You enough, Lord? Please help us to live overwhelmed by You, in deepest gratitude.
