Blot Out

Today’s Encouragement is, “Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins.” Psalms 51:1 NLT

Blot out –

Blot!  Think of the pen and ink used to write in ancient times.  Erasing wasn’t possible. The only way to remove a mistake or change a written word was – Blot it out!  Cover it completely with more ink.

My friends, our sins are covered with something that makes them unrecognizable, something infinitely more significant than the ‘ink’ with which we ‘wrote’ them.  The blood of Jesus covers all our sin. His blood ‘blots out’ our sin; it’s no longer recognizable and cannot be held against us!!  And all our sin was future sin when Christ died for us on the cross.  Our future sins, as well as our past, are blotted out, covered completely by the priceless blood of Christ.

Father God, may we now live knowing that we are Your freed, forgiven, and beloved children.  We are granted complete pardon, unshackled from our past pain, future fears, and daily doubts.  Help us to realize that we are no longer slaves to our sins, our pasts, or our fears.  Father, please blot out all our sin from our memories as well, Lord.  We ask in Jesus’ Name.

No Longer Slaves
