Today’s Encouragement is “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 NLT
The Word –
John begins his book, a firsthand, eyewitness record of the phenomenal ministry of Jesus Christ, with these unusual words. He starts well before Jesus’ birth, before Moses, Abraham, Noah, or even Adam—at the very beginning of time! Before creation, Jesus (the Word of God) already existed, and He was with God, and He was God.
Mysterious, yes, but God has no obligation to ‘dumb down’ His power and glory to something we can easily understand. Still, one of the reasons Jesus came to earth is to show us the Father (John 14:8-9).
This is only possible because- Jesus was, is, and always will be – God.
“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.” Matthew 28:18 NLT
“The Father and I are one.” John 10:30 NLT
John uses ‘the Word’ to describe Jesus. We also use it frequently to refer to the Bible as God’s Word. But please understand that Jesus is infinitely more than the written word of God, which we have in the Bible.
No book, library, or anything else can contain, constrain, or limit God Himself!
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is God. And He knows, and loves, and forgives, and cares for …you and me.
Thank You, Father God, for giving us Your Son, Your Word, so we can know You.
