Today’s Encouragement is “Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” Luke 24:27 NLT
Concerning Himself –
The Old Testament contains hundreds of prophecies about Jesus, written centuries before His birth. He fulfilled them all! Every. Single. One.
So what? How is this encouraging?
Just this – God is in Control. He has a plan. He knows the future, past, and present. Some have said all of Time is ‘Now’ to God!
He sent hundreds of messages to us in His Bible, first in the Old Testament before Jesus came to the earth, then after His birth in the New Testament.
This is why we can believe; this is what we can believe. Some pick and choose from the Bible the parts they like, understand, or ‘feel good about.’ My friend, it is all true and relevant!
The New Testament did not replace the Old! As Jesus explained, “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.” Matthew 5:17 NLT
What was this purpose He spoke of? To reconcile humankind with God. Jesus came to do what the Old Testament Law was established to do… to make us Righteous, right with God.
And He did… “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 NLT
We are Right with God. His chosen children!
Father, we are grateful for the Bible, which expresses Your love for us so clearly. Help us recognize that Jesus has made us right with You so that we are part of Your chosen family.
