Today’s Encouragement is, “He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.” Ephesians 4:16 NLT
Healthy and Growing –
This isn’t your physical body being discussed here; it is the church, which is described as the Body of Christ. Notice the perspective, “He makes… “. God does this. It’s not our efforts, skills, or brilliance (nor is it our mistakes and incompetence!) that brings about a healthy and growing body of believers.
Don’t mistake the church as only a group that meets in a certain place to worship God in a certain way… this is the whole ‘Church’ of Jesus, all believers everywhere in all of time… sometimes called ‘the Church universal.’
As each part (this is you and me!) does its work … we help others grow so that—together—we are “healthy, growing, and full of love!” Remember, God doesn’t say, if you are good enough – then you can do this, nor does He say, I will do this if you are worthy… no, my friend, it is because of His immeasurable love for His own, both individually and as a group, His church, as His own family … He has blessed us with growth, health, and love!
And as we, “each part,” do “our special work,” the body of Christ, His Church, grows healthy and full of love! God created you, uniquely, to do exactly what He designed you to do, within His body.
Father, help us to know and do ‘our own special work’ for Your church, Your body, on this earth today.
