Today’s Encouragement is, “How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.” Psalm 36:7 NKJV
Lovingkindness –
There are so many wonderful aspects of God’s character and nature! We know He is Love (1 John 4:8), merciful, patient, gracious, and good. But let’s focus on this one astounding quality of our God for a moment.
Lovingkindness is an antiquated word. The Hebrew word ” chêsêd ” is used more than 200 times in the Old Testament to describe Him. The dictionary defines it as “tender and benevolent affection.”
The word love is so overused today that we lose much of the value, import, weight, and even exclusivity of the concept. And lovingkindness extends this root word even beyond its original, astounding depth of meaning.
Remember also that we are considering the perfect lovingkindness of our Father God, not our human version. Is it possible that Our Father looks at each of His children with a smile? Love in His heart! Arms open wide to embrace us! Happiness in His eyes! Our past, sins, and failures are all forgiven and even forgotten because of Jesus! No reservations in His mind. No thoughts of ‘If only you would…’ or ‘You should have or could have…’ There is no judgment in His Love!
My friend, this is God’s nature. This is who He is for each of His people, all who believe and accept the grace of Jesus!
We are right with God! We are the recipients of His Lovingkindness!
Father, You truly are Good in every way! Our minds cannot adequately comprehend, and our hearts cannot express the depth of our gratitude for Your Lovingkindness.
