Today’s Encouragement is, “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (NLT)
Eternal Comfort –
God loved us and gave us (already) “eternal comfort and wonderful hope.” These blessings are already given to us because of His love and grace.
These are blessings that we have received already! Not someday in some uncertain future, but an accomplished act… Eternal Comfort! And Wonderful Hope! Already ours!
“But” we admit, “I often don’t feel comforted or hopeful… much less eternally… so can this be true?” Friends, our true standing is from God and is not limited by how we feel, think, or any other limitation.
As adopted sons and daughters of the Living God, we have been given many amazing blessings like these! Whether we fully recognize it or not, whether we act upon our position as His children or not, doesn’t change the reality.
It is as if we were broke, but suddenly, we inherited a million dollars in a bank account in our name. If we never are told about it, never believe it, never use it… we remain impoverished… in our minds only… in reality, we are rich. But if we don’t believe it, it isn’t “real” to us. In the same way, we are blessed unimaginably as the sons and daughters of the Living God. But we must believe it!
Lord, Open our eyes, hearts, and minds to the incredible, even limitless blessings we have from You. Help us to believe and accept Your gifts of Eternal Comfort and Wonderful Hope.
