Today’s Encouragement is, “And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.” Romans 8:10 NLT
Right With God –
The word righteousness means right with God. We have been made right… God did this for us; we cannot do this ourselves.
Notice from this verse that:
Christ lives within us.
Our bodies will die because of sin.
The Spirit of God gives us (present tense) life,
Because we have been (already are!) made right with God!
We are not right with God, righteous, because we are good people or because of anything we do… except that we believe! We can’t Do anything except choose to believe in Jesus, which can make us right with Him.
Notice also that this body where your immortal soul now resides will die. No surprise there! But it does so because of sin! Wait, what? Yes, it is sin that corrupts, corrodes, rusts, and destroys. Even though we are cleansed of sin, this body we now live in is subject to the ravages of life, illness, accidents, and decay… it’s true for all humanity.
What is different for us believers is that we will one day lay aside this carcass, either well-worn or only-slightly-used… to move on to our immortal forms… an imperishable form! (1 Corinthians 15:53)
And this is true—only because we believe in Jesus. Therefore, we are righteous and right with God!
Father, we thank You for the beautiful truths in Your Word. Thank You for righteousness and for eternal life. While we may not fully understand, we choose to believe.
