Today’s Encouragement is, “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21 ESV
To Die Is Gain –
I recently took a walk and listened to music. And this medley of hymns (today’s song) came on. The last hymn in the medley is ‘Nearer My God to Thee.’ It’s a beautiful prayer for a closer relationship with Him.
I was deeply moved at that moment; I stopped walking and stood with my arms raised to Him and wept as I joined In singing, “Still all my song shall be, Nearer my God to Thee… Nearer my God to Thee, nearer to Thee”.
In that brief moment, I was completely ready to go and be with Him in Eternity. I was sincerely ready to leave this world behind… when, almost immediately, these words came to me… “I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me. But for your sakes, it is better that I continue to live.” Philippians 1:23-24 NLT And my thoughts were abruptly turned – from heaven – to my family, and you, my brothers and sisters Christ.
My friend, when we believe God’s Word, that we are accepted, forgiven, and granted eternal life, and that He has prepared a place for us where we will live with Him eternally, in perfect Peace… we can be ready whenever He decides.
I’m ready, Lord, to come home, but you have Your Will and Your Ways—so, not my will but Yours be done. Please, Lord, Draw me Nearer!
