Name him Jesus –
What do you call Him?
-Is it an “arms-length” term like The man upstairs, The Good Lord, The big man, The Big Guy?
-Or do you use a term of Affection? Abba (which means Daddy), Our Father, Dear Lord, Dear God, Father God, Dear Master, Lord Jesus, Dear Jesus…
-Perhaps it is a name that recognizes His Power – Almighty God, Mighty God, Creator, Lord Almighty, or King of Kings.
Is it possible that –
the name we use to address Him –
Is an indication of our relationship with Him?
Today’s verse connects His Name, the Name of Jesus, “the Name above every other name” (Phil. 2:9), with Salvation! His name, Jesus, means “God saves”.
My friend, we are wise to respect, revere, and honor His Name. The only name by which – we are saved (Acts 4:12)!
Father God, Help us recognize the significance of our choice of Your Name. As we grow in our relationship with You, may our understanding of Who You are affect the Name we speak. Your Name is above all. Help us to respect Your Great Name.
