Today’s Encouragement is, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” Colossians 3:23 NLT
Working for the Lord –
Whatever we do! Going to work, visiting a sick friend and praying for them… or simply taking out the trash, making a meal, or taking a walk—the most mundane task… we can choose to do as though we are working for the Lord.
This is because of our identity. It has nothing to do with the type of work or the task. My friend, because we are His – whatever we do is – His work.
How? Whatever we do, we encounter people with needs. God can use us to touch their lives with His Hope and Love at any time, in any circumstance. It may be prayer, silently speaking God’s presence and love into their lives. There may be an opportunity for a word of encouragement. Or simply lending a helping hand at the right moment. Whatever form of expression “God’s Love for others” may take, it is life-giving to those around us. They may not accept it, but they might! And regardless of their acceptance or rejection, you can choose to be obedient to God’s calling, and this obedience will begin to transform you.
Now, instead of dreading interaction with the difficult people you work with or live with, you realize that you are God’s ambassador to them (2 Corinthians 5:20), extending His Love to them.
Father, we cannot do this without Your Spirit guiding and strengthening us. But we long to be faithful sons and daughters, serving You in every aspect of our lives. Help us, we pray.
