If You kept –
Recently, we talked to a friend who shared their grievances regarding us. It was very uncomfortable and rather sad in hindsight. We recognized that while these issues were certainly the result of our shortcomings, mistakes, and generally human behavior… this person was essentially – ‘keeping a record of our sins.’ We cannot undo or erase these things, and the harm done to our relationship is already final. Most importantly, this record of our sins continues to hurt this friend… each time they remember the damage done to them, they are harmed again!
Not So with our God, our Perfect Loving Father has not only forgiven and erased any record of our sins, even mistakes, even our minor insults … He has also provided complete erasure of our future sins! We cannot undo our past; we cannot restore our damaged relationship with our friend… only their forgiveness will heal our friendship! And this is precisely what God has done for us: He grants us complete forgiveness and forgets our sins (Heb 8:12)! He keeps no record of our wrong! (1 Corinthians 13:5)
We have a restored, proper, and grace-filled relationship with Him because of – His forgiveness… bought by Jesus, so that we can be close to, in relationship with, our loving Father God!
Thank You, Jesus, for purchasing our forgiveness with your life; thank You, Father, that You do not keep any record of our sins!
