The Good Seed

Today’s Encouragement is, “Jesus replied, ‘The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed. The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one.’” Matthew 13:37-38 NLT

The Good Seed –

In this brief parable (v 24-30), Jesus explains good and evil in this world!

God has ‘planted’ us, the people of the Kingdom.  He has chosen and cleansed us to be this earth’s fruitful and beneficial (wheat, grain, food, nourishment) seed.  Yet, the evil one has his “weed-seed” people too.

God chooses (He doesn’t have to explain Himself to us, and we probably couldn’t understand it anyway!) to allow the evil to remain ‘until the end of the age’ (v39).  At that time, the evil will be dealt with and destroyed.  But until then, my friend, the people of God, live in this world, our workplaces, churches, sometimes even our homes… with the ‘weed-seed’!

Not my opinion, it’s God’s truth…

When we watch the news, some of the weed-seed is easily seen!  But at times, it’s harder to discern.  This parable offers a key.  And that is fruit’.  What is the fruit of the person?  The result of their life?  Is it nourishing food?  Or are they noxious weeds that don’t produce any ‘fruit’ or grain?

Some weeds may have pretty flowers… but don’t be deceived… the flower may be beautiful, but the fruit is the actual test.

Lord, help us discern the good seed from the “weed-seed” and evaluate the fruit of our lives and those around us so that we are not deceived.
