Great Joy

Today’s Encouragement is, “And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.’” Matthew 3:17 NLT

Great Joy – What do you think that was God referring to?  He first stated that Jesus is His Son, then added… “who brings me Great Joy.”  Other translations say, ‘in whom I am well-pleased’ and ‘delighted.’  Why did God add this comment?  Was He making it more apparent who Jesus was?  Or is it possible that He was expressing His approval, pride, His Joy? I tend to think it was the latter.God was and is proud of Jesus. He came to John to be baptized, but He has yet to preach, perform miracles, or ask anyone to follow Him. In short, He was only beginning to live out His true identity. God’s love for us is like that.  He loves us, He is well-pleased with us, and we also bring Him great joy… not because of what we have done, not because we have great potential, certainly not because we are such good people! But only because we are His!  “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.” Galatians 3:26-27 NLT Thank You, Father, that You are pleased with us, that we bring You great joy because we are your children; we have put on Christ. The Joy of the LordRend Collectivehttps://youtu.be/fcG9HApTC_Q?si=TpRle4PiTEp3GFw-
