You Must Love

Today’s Encouragement is, “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

You Must Love –

Jesus said that these two commandments summarize the Old Testament!

“The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:40)

The Bible’s first five books and the many prophetic books are all based on, summarized, and incorporated into… these two commandments: Love God with all you are and love your neighbor as yourself.

In John 4:8, we are told that “God is Love.”  And these greatest commandments are – Love.   So, what else is there?

Love God, Love others, and Love yourself.

Notice the clarity and simplicity of the message.

God Is Love. He loves us, and His love flows through us and to others.

We wrongly heap up rules, ideals, principles, concepts, or values, but my friend, it’s all about Love.

For God so Loved the world… (John 3:16)

The greatest of these is Love… (1 Corinthians 13:13)

If I knew and understood everything, but didn’t have Love, I am nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:2)

Every good thing, every right concept, every worthwhile thought… is anchored in Love.

This is God’s Love, unselfish, patient, heartfelt, kind and generous.  Not our human love, which is always self-serving and insatiable.

Thank You, Father, for teaching and demonstrating Your Love for us through Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. Help us to Love You and others as ourselves, as You have Loved us.
