Today’s Encouragement is “Then he asked them, ‘But who do you say I am?’ Peter replied, ‘You are the Messiah.’” Mark 8:29 NLT
Who Do You Say –
Jesus had just asked his disciples “Who do people say I am?” Then He asked this.
Notice Peter’s response, “You are… the Messiah.” He didn’t say, “Well, we think you might be the Messiah. Or, “Some of us think,” “We feel,” or “It seems like.” No, Peter boldly spoke the Truth.
CS Lewis wrote that Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or Lord; there were no other options. He couldn’t be only a good teacher, a very wise man, or a spiritual guide.
When He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” John 14:6, He was either lying, deluded, or stating the Truth of His Lordship.
Also, when He said, “I and the Father are one.” John 10:30, He spoke absolute Truth.
And therefore, every other statement He made, recorded faithfully for us by those who knew Him best… is True.
Still today, “some say” this or that… But, my friend, who do you say that Jesus is?
Father, help us to know, not only think, feel, or suspect the Truth of Jesus. Who He was and still is, and everything He taught us.
He Is
