Others Began Coming

So David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and all his other relatives joined him there. Then others began coming – men who were in trouble, in debt, or just discontented… 1 Samuel 22:1-2a NLT

Today’s Encouragement is – Others began coming –

David had been selected, chosen, and anointed as the king.  But immediately afterward, he was relentlessly pursued by the current king, Saul.  So, he escaped and hid.  And notice who joined him… his family (who were targets because of him), and others who were troubled, in debt, or discontent.  Not exactly the cream of the crop!

Just like you and me.  Ordinary people with lots of baggage!  Not heroes, not the powerful or wealthy.

Jesus said He came to seek and to save those who were lost (Luke 19:10).

Everyone who needs help can come to Jesus, just as these men in trouble, debt, and discontent came to David.

A few centuries later, Jesus selected, hand-picked, 12 ordinary guys to be His disciples… also people just like us.

And finally, the disgruntled men who joined David… who spent time with him and followed him… became mighty warriors… and the twelve ordinary men He chose … these ordinary people all became mighty men of Faith!

We run to Jesus in our need, and we are then strengthened (reborn and transformed) to be victorious in life and through eternity…

Thank You, Father, for transforming ordinary people into Your faithful servants and overcomers!

Come to Jesus
