Rebels

Today’s Encouragement is Isaiah 31:6 NLT Though you are such wicked rebels, my people, come and return to the LORD.

Rebels –

Throughout biblical history, people rebelled against God, and we still do! The pattern is clear and consistent, repeated dozens of times over the centuries, and it is recorded for us to learn about our human nature and God’s grace.

The people need rescue from slavery or their enemies.

They cry out to God for His help.

He hears, He acts, and He saves.

The people rejoice, honor God, and sing His praises.

But soon difficulties arise, and they whine, grumble, and blame God for their troubles…They rebel and turn away from Him.

And because they decide to rebel, they suffer famine, enemies, or diseases.  They chose not to honor God and live outside of His protection, Love, and Grace.

They cry to God for help, mercy, and salvation in their suffering.

And God hears, rescues, and saves.

This cycle, in various forms, is repeated in numerous accounts, both in the lives of nations and individuals. It may take decades or centuries or even occur in several cycles within one person’s lifetime.

My friend, this is still true in your life and mine.  We run hot and cold, fall short, repent, weaken, and grow in Faith.

This natural cycle is inevitable, yet, as believers, we are eternally rescued and saved. Our rebellion is limited, and our return to faith, to God’s way, is assured because of Christ within us!

Father, thank you for revealing this cyclical pattern of our behavior and assuring us that we are free – because of Jesus. And we can always return to You!

No longer slaves
