Today’s Encouragement is Romans 8:9 NLT But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. The Spirit controls you if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
You are not controlled –
Years ago, a comedian made the line “The devil made me do it” famous, and it got a lot of laughs!
But it just ain’t so! Not for us as believers in and followers of Jesus! We are NOT controlled by sin, our sinful human nature, nor by the enemy of our souls.
We ARE controlled by God’s Spirit!
Remember this my isn’t about how things seem, how we think things are, or how we feel… This is about The Truth. God’s Word gives us The Truth, always and perfectly.
We can accept and embrace it, or we can deny it, or fight it… but we cannot change His Truth!
So why do we fall into or choose sinful behavior from time to time? This is gonna sting… it’s because we choose to. Our human nature is inescapable; it is with us all our earthly lives.
But as new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) reborn (John 1:13) we are cleansed of our sin! We are Forgiven, Set Free, and no longer controlled by our sinful nature!
Thank You Father, that by faith in Jesus, we truly are free!
