Today’s Encouragement is Proverbs 30:5 NLT Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.
Every Word –
The Bible is often called God’s word. It is His message to us. Every word is True, and it is complete.
Jesus is revealed in John 1 as “the Word” also. The entire Bible reveals, points to, describes, and honors Jesus! And Jesus is God. He is the Truth.
Today’s verse states that God is our shield. In biblical times, two items were essential for battle: a shield and a sword. A warrior needs both in battle. The shield was for defense, and the sword was for offense, and both were essential!
In Ephesians 6:17, we learn that the word of God is our sword, our offensive weapon against our enemy. The perfect example is how Jesus quoted scripture to defeat Satan in the wilderness.
In this life, it seems we are always in a spiritual battle. We always need both the Word of God as our offense and Him as our defensive shield! Please recognize that God defends. He is active in defense, and we are passive. But in offense, we become active, using the sword of the Word of God to attack our enemy. But God is never passive!
Whatever battle we face. He is everything we need!
Thank You, Father, for being everything we need and for giving us assurance of victory, no matter how long or difficult the battle. You are victorious, and You bring us to Your victory in every battle.
