Today’s Encouragement is Isaiah 60:2 NLT Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the LORD rises and appears over you.
Appears Over You –
We often need to be reminded (well, at least I do) that this world does not control us. We are in this world, but we are not of it (John 15:19). Because this is true, our lives aren’t subject to, controlled by, or powerless over the world around us. We are God’s people!
So, while it’s true that the blackest darkness covers so much of the world, always has, and always will… this black darkness doesn’t cover us!
Instead of the darkness, we are covered by the Light, the Glory of God!
John 1:5 NLT “The light [Jesus] shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
And 1 John 1:5b NLT “God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.”
Matthew 5:14 NLT [Jesus said to us,] “You are the light of the world.”
Now, imagine yourself walking in the darkest, blackest night. It’s terribly lonely and frightening, and you feel helpless, hopeless, and vulnerable.
But God!
Now, realize that the Glory of the Lord, His Light, shines a powerful, unyielding spotlight down upon you and all around you!
The darkness, no matter how pervasive, has no power over you – because you belong to Him, and you live and walk confidently in His radiant Light. And because He lives within you… You are the Light of the World (Matthew 5:14)!
Father, we are so grateful for Your many blessings. Today, we thank you for Your Marvelous Light, which lives within us and Always Overcomes All darkness!
