Today’s Encouragement is John 10:27 ESV My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.
Follow Me –
Jesus called his disciples to join Him with this invitation, “Follow Me.” In several instances, He invited others with the exact words, but they did not follow Him.
Imagine rejecting Jesus’ personal invitation to join and follow Him! Yet several did just that. We have the choice! Many will choose to follow someone or something else, just like those Jesus invited. Who will you follow?
As believers in Jesus, we have chosen and will continue to Follow Him alone.
He often compared Himself to a good shepherd and us to sheep… and sheep know His voice and follow the Shepherd.
Following implies many actions, such as watching, observing, obeying, trusting, relying on, and even depending on.
We are Followers of Christ; we ‘watch’ Him by reading the Word to see how He lived. We practice these other actions and beliefs of obeying and relying by ‘walking in His ways.’ This means living our lives according to His truth.
Contrary to popular self-help teachings, we don’t have to know where we are going. Rather, we simply follow Jesus. One decision, one commitment, one resolution… Follow.
Father God, help us to be good followers who are willing and alert to where Jesus leads us. We know that You will faithfully guide us as we follow.
Walk With You
