Today’s Encouragement is 1 Peter 4:12 NLT Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.
Don’t Be Surprised –
“What? Did he say fiery trials? No Thanks!” Most of us will do – whatever we must – to avoid any trouble, much less fiery trials! Fiery! Ouch! Sounds painful! And if you’ve ever had the experience of “going through a trial” in the legal sense, you recognize the emotional toll this can take. And spiritual fiery trials… would have to be the worst!
Remember the three guys who wouldn’t turn away from God and worship the king? In his rage, the king threw them into a fiery furnace… but suddenly, he saw a fourth man walking around in the fire with them! Who “looks like a god” (Daniel 3:25). Jesus was in the fire with them!
My friend, our God is with us (Immanuel means God with us) in all the fiery trials of life, comforting and rescuing us through them
So, we don’t need to be surprised or afraid. Trials and troubles will come. But Immanuel – God is with us!
Father, thank You for always being with us at all times, but especially when we go through the many fiery trials in life.
