Rest For Your Souls

Today’s Encouragement is Matthew 11:29 NLT Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Rest For Your Souls –

Yes, please!  I need this Soul-Rest! How about you?

Notice – This is a promise, a clear, unequivocal statement from Jesus.  Was He exaggerating?  Did He limit this rest to those who deserve it or obey Him perfectly?  What are the parameters or restrictions?  Look long and hard. Maybe you can find some… I didn’t!

Well, I take that back; there is one caveat!  He said, “Take my yoke upon you, and let me teach you.”

So, let’s get this straight: We take Jesus’ yoke on ourselves and learn from Him whatever He is teaching us, and the result is rest for our souls—not just rest for our bodies and minds, but rest for our souls!

A farmer used a yoke to direct the animal and put it to work, to guide it, and to direct it for beneficial purposes. He was comparing His yoke to the burden of keeping the law placed on the people. Matthew 11:30 “For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” – because He bears all the weight! He does the work of our salvation; we only accept, follow, and allow Him to guide us.

Is the price too high? Want to take a pass?

Personally, I desire this soul-rest very much!  So, I’m ready.

Lord, give me Your easy yoke… teach me… please, so I may find Your rest for my soul.

Rest
