Today’s Encouragement is 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 NLT You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
To Share With Others –
There is a deep spiritual truth in these verses which many pastors are extremely reluctant to speak about. They fear they will be as money-hungry and worse when they dare to speak God’s Truth about giving! This Truth about giving (which is not at all limited to money!) is too precious to be neglected due to ‘what they might think about me’!!
When we give, (and not only money!) we are recognizing that everything we have is from God alone. We may work hard, get educated, and invest well… but God alone gives us the ability, knowledge, skill, and blessing to do these things. God is the Only Source. It’s all His, from Him, and for Him. We get to use what He’s blessed us with, but only for this short time period that we have on this earth. It is all His.
Once we understand this truth, we become free to give (not only money) cheerfully to Him through our church, to His work, to our friends and neighbors in need… even to those on the street corner. It is our gift to God… so give (not only money) as He leads you to give, trusting that He is the source for your every need.
Thank You, Father God, that You have blessed us so richly, and that we can now bless others in Your Name.
