Today’s Entertainment is Hebrews 1:3a NLT The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command.
The Very Character –
The richness of God’s word is so wonderful!
Jesus radiates – the ESV reads ‘He IS the radiance of God’s glory’. God’s presence is usually described as radiant, brilliant light, brighter than the sun, blinding light… These images are merely (and inadequate) examples of God’s Glory… but Jesus radiates it, and He IS God’s Glory!
And Jesus expresses – Jesus is the expression of God’s character. God the Father desires for us to know about Him, and to have a growing, deepening, personal relationship with Him. And Jesus came (among many reasons) to reveal to us God’s character, the ESV reads, “He is the exact imprint of His nature”!
Jesus sustains – Everything!
He is not limited to the four walls of a church, or Sunday morning. He’s not locked up inside your Bible waiting for you to open it and set Him free… He sustains Everything, Eternally, Effortlessly, and Excellently.
All of Life exists through Him and was created by Him (v1).
Father, when we seek You, and when we consider Jesus, Your Son, our Savior… we are overwhelmed! Help us to be appropriately awed by everything Jesus Is! And especially awed… by His Love for us.
