Turn Away

Today’s Encouragement is 1 Peter 3:10-11 NLT For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it.”

Turn Away –

We often might think, “The Bible is old, outdated, and irrelevant to our current digital, ‘enlightened’ age. The stories are nice, teach good lessons, but aren’t really practical in my busy life.”

But this verse demonstrates the timeless (eternal) nature of the wisdom of God which He has graciously provided for His people. It will endure through the centuries, and forever.

In truth, we usually learn from looking back, trial and error, and learning from the mistakes (and wisdom) of the past—both our own and that of others.

And today’s passage is Wisdom.  Clear, timeless, perfect.

Turn from evil.  Refuse to speak it, think it, entertain it.  Instead, seek peace and work to keep peace…

And when you do, if you do… you will enjoy life… and see many happy days…

Just one example of the Timeless Wisdom of God revealed in the Bible.

And if/when the ‘turning away’ from evil proves difficult… we can pray!  Ask Him.  He wants to help us do what is wise, He is always ready to help!  Psalm 46:1 NLT “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”

Father God, Thank You for giving us Your Wisdom in the Bible. Thank You for teaching us to turn away from evil so that we enjoy a good life. And Thank You for helping us when we so often cannot help ourselves!

His Strength is Perfect
