Today’s Encouragement is Psalm 139:9-10 NIV If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
Hold Me Fast –
In Psalm 139, God Holds Us Fast. And We can Hold Fast to Him! In Psalm 91:14 ESV [God says] “Because he holds fast to me in love, I [God] will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.”
God initiates (everything). No one can come to Him unless He draws them (John 6:44). And similarly, as He holds us fast, we can hold fast to Him.
Think about this term, Hold Fast, now, envision a sailor in a storm working on deck, securing cargo, tossed about by the waves, soaked by the sea, holding fast to the ship in whatever way he can…. This is a picture of us ‘holding fast’ to God. In our most desperate times, all we can do is ‘hold on’… till the storm passes, till the sea around us settles down.
And God Holds Us Fast also. When we are unfaithful, God is faithful (2 Timothy 2:13). He forgave us, so we can forgive others (Colossians 3:13). He gives every good and perfect gift (James 1:17).
This relieves us of the burden, responsibility, impossibility of knowing what we are to do, to be, in any situation… because we are just like sheep needing a shepherd, and He is the Good and Perfect Shepherd. We can Hold Fast to Him, as He Holds Fast to us!
Thank You Lord for Holding us Fast, and that we can Hold Fast to You!
He Will Hold Me Fast
