Today’s Encouragement is Colossians 1:19 NLT For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ.
Was Pleased –
It seems a strange expression of God’s perspective of Jesus… God was pleased, to live in Christ… What could this mean?
Remember when Jesus was baptized, God said, Matthew 3:17b ESV “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
Jesus was exactly whom God wanted Him to be. God was very pleased with Jesus! And in today’s verse, God invested, poured into Jesus, His… Fullness… All that God is… was pleased… to live… in Christ.
Is it possible that:
- Just as God was completely pleased with Jesus and completely filled Jesus with His Fullness
- And we are “in Him,” That God … in all His fullness … May also … through Jesus … be well-pleased … to live … In … us?
Is it possible? God. Pleased with. Living in. – Us?
Jesus spoke these amazing words in his last hours on earth… John 17:21a NLT “I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one-as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.”
1 John 4:17b ESV “…because as he [Jesus] is so also are we in this world.”
As Jesus is – So also, are we!
Father, this is too much… we are afraid to even think about this, much less choose to believe it, and yet… the Holy Spirit You gave us… is Your fullness as well! And so, You, in Your Fullness… also live in everyone who believes! We are not second-class citizens… rather, we are Your own Sons and Daughters!
